More Than a Company

Movement was founded on anti-capitalist principles for the cause of empowering marginalized people, both through client work and within the company. We have built and continue to build a culture where everyone:

  • can show up as their whole, authentic selves

  • takes care of themselves first and then each other

  • can speak their mind, come up with ideas, and suggest solutions

  • practices community care

  • can nurture their potential and receive support for their individual path

  • earns a peace-of-mind wage*

At our current capacity as a company, we cannot engage in collective decision making and recognize that our structure must be partially hierarchical for the time being.

We also recognize that either/or thinking is a tenet of white supremacy culture. As we strengthen our infrastructure and build financial stability to set the foundation for the collective we want to become, we still practice and embody collective principles.

* The piece-of-mind wage goes beyond the limitations of a living wage (earning enough income to be above the poverty line) to allow individuals to set aside 10% of their wages for contingency (i.e. emergencies) and 10% for savings.

Be careful with each other so you can be dangerous together.
