Movement Consulting

Transforming Organizations into Radically Nourishing Spaces

We help socially conscious people build radically just workplace cultures through emotional, relational, and collective work.

About Us

Our Philosophy

At Movement, we believe in making organizations better now – not by checking diversity boxes, but rather creating immersive learning spaces to build awareness of systems of oppression. With these foundational elements in place, we then contextualize and unpack behaviors on an individual and interpersonal level. From there, we can sustainably build community and shift cultures.

Our Values

At Movement, we prioritize curiosity and vulnerability over shame and judgment. We value being in right relation*, collective un/learning, and centering marginalized voices. For us, “right relation” has two components: 1) to be right within ourselves through emotional work, and 2) to be responsible to one another through active listening and creating a culture of care - whether it’s within the context of society or at the level of our own communities.

Our Positionality

We are a consulting collective led by disabled, neurodivergent, queer women and nonbinary people at multiple intersections of class, race, and ethnic experiences. We all hold the privileged identities of being collegiate students, advanced degree holders, or career academics, while many of us are first-generation students and immigrants. Our founder, Dra. Nicole, has a unique positionality as a white Latina with a PhD that has allowed us to navigate, speak to, and leverage the politics of academia while centering those most marginalized in STEM.

Our Impact

Since our founding in 2018, Movement Consulting has successfully partnered with students, faculty, and leaders from over 25 universities and organizations across the US, Canada, and Europe.

[*] The concept of right relationship comes from Indigenous traditional knowledge that everything is interconnected and that we have a responsibility to each other (e.g. Tynan 2021)

Marginalized people are often expected to educate others, identify issues, and provide solutions to problems they are not experts in - all on a volunteer basis that distracts from their work.

Our Work

We design effective paths for engaging with topics such as race and racism, bias, and gender inequity. Our programming equips clients with a shared foundational language, tools for introspection, an understanding of how systems impact their communities, and empowers leadership to make decisions that support everyone – especially marginalized people.

If your house ain't in order, you ain't in order. It is so much easier to be out there than right here. The revolution ain't out there. Yet. But it is here.
